Ms. Wilma Jean Rose, age 74, of Olive Hill, KY passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. She was born May 2, 1949, in Wadsworth, OH, a daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth Johnson Rose (Henderson).
Wilma was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olive Hill. She was retired from Carter County Board of Education as a math teacher at West Carter High School. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, attending church, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Clayton J. Henderson; one sister, Lois Faye Haney; and one brother-in-law, Glen Henderson, Jr.
Wilma is survived by two sisters, Jennifer (Roy) Callihan, and Kathy Henderson; three nieces, Karen (Steve) Tackett, Jewell Henderson, and Glenna (Neil) Messer; two nephews, Charles Edward (Mary) Callihan, and Robert Harold Haney; a very special great-nephew, Lucas Eli Haney; and several other great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews that will miss her dearly. She is also survived by two special friends and caregivers, Brenda Stroud and Brenda Robinson Trent.
Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, October 13, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Olive Hill with Bro. Mike Blankenship and Tim Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6:00 PM-9:00 PM Thursday, October 12, 2023, and 10:00 AM until the time of service Friday, October 13, 2023, at the First Baptist Church, 365 E Tom T Hall Blvd, Olive Hill, KY.
Steve Tackett, Justin Tackett, Tim Waddell, Glynis Boggs, James Boggs, and Charles “Eddie” Callihan will serve as pallbearers.
Roy Callihan, Bobby Haney, Lucas Eli Haney, Chris McMillen, Cody Lawhorn will serve as honorary pallbearers.
