William D. “Billy Don” Rice

1948-2024

William D. “Billy Don” Rice, age 76 of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Tuesday afternoon October 22, 2024, at UK St. Claire Hospital in Morehead, KY. He was born on July 28, 1948, at Stovall Hospital in Grayson KY, a son of the late Donald Carl Rice and Lillian James Rice.

Billy Don proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968-1970 and served overseas during the Vietnam Conflict, from 1969-1970. He worked as a laborer for Local 1445 out Catlettsburg, KY for 40 years and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, working on old cars, and especially his 1968 Chevy Camaro. Billy Don was of the Christian faith and member of the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138 for 40 years.

He is survived by his Loving wife of 52 years, Lyda Sue McDowell Rice whom he married in 1972; two sons William D. Rice Jr. of Olive Hill, KY, Keith (Tammy) Offill of Olive Hill, KY; three brothers Ronnie (Kay) Rice of Olive Hill, KY, Phillip (Melissa) Rice of Simpsonville, KY, James (Trina) Rice of Marion, NC; five sisters Teresa (Ora Lee) Rigsby of Moon, KY, Pamela Rice (Stephen) Stout of Bidwell, OH, Vicky (David) Lands of Morehead, KY, Carla Rice (Raymond Martin) of Olive Hill, KY, and Shirley (Dwayne) Tackett of Johnson County KY; four honorary grandchildren Karianna Back Branham; Kale Back; Melanie McDowell; and Mason McDowell. In addition, he is survived by a host of relatives and friends along with his American Legion Brothers and sisters that will cherish his memory.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Friday October 25, 2024, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, officiated by Bro. Gary Sparks. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill, KY.  Military honors will precede the funeral service.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM, Thursday October 24, 2024, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.

Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Ronnie Rice.
