William Tharp

1948 - 2022

William Tharp, 74, of Ashland, KY, entered into rest Thursday afternoon, November 10, 2022, at Community Hospice. He was born February 4, 1948, in Hazard, KY, to the late Herman and Stella Spencer Tharp.

Willie was of the Baptist faith and retired from Tri-Cities Paving after 30 years. He spent his free time tinkering in his garage.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one step-son, Brian Gunnoe; two sisters, Jerrie Garand, and Leah Tharp; and two brothers, Eugene Tharp, and Roger Tharp.

Willie is survived by his wife of 33 years, Helen Gifford Tharp; three daughters, Annette Tharp, Deena Miles, and Regina Griffith; two sons, Jason Tharp, and Billy Tharp; three brothers, J.C. Tharp, Stanley Tharp, and Danny Tharp; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to these, he leaves behind a host of family and friends that will deeply miss him and cherish his memory.

In keeping with Willie’s wishes, there will be no public services. A private interment will take place at the Savage Cemetery.
