William Gregory Proctor

William Gregory ‘Bill’ Proctor, age 79, of Left Fork Run Road in Bakersville, NC, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Born on August 3, 1944 in Boyd County, KY, he was the son of the late Harlan and Ferne Perry Proctor.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son; Jeffrey Proctor. 

Bill retired from General Tire and Rubber Company in Marion, IN.  Following retirement, he moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina and settled in Mitchell County. He loved the quiet, calm surroundings and truly enjoyed the slow pace life of his community.  After settling in, he began a second career working for Ethan Allen Furniture in Spruce Pine, NC.    

Bill was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hiking, canoeing, white water rafting and riding four wheelers.  He also enjoyed visiting with his friends and spending time with them on the mountain.

Left to cherish his memory is daughter; Angela Proctor of Lakeland, FL; his grandson; Jeffrey Allen Proctor of North Fort Myers, FL; his great grandson; Vincent Gregory William Proctor of North Fort Myers, FL; and his sisters; Ellen Blevins and husband, Mitchell of Olive Hill, KY and Rhonda Wilburn and husband, Keith of Olive Hill, KY, Several Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews and his many dear and close friends on Shoot Out Mountain who were most certainly his adopted family.

A memorial service will be planned and announced later to take place in Olive Hill, KY.
