In Loving Memory of Wanda Louise Oney Davis
July 13, 1947 – September 22, 2025
Lavalette, West Virginia, Formerly of Olive Hill, Kentucky
Wanda Louise Oney Davis, a devoted woman of the Christian faith, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025 , surrounded by the love of her family. She was born July 13, 1947, in Olive Hill, KY to Jesse Arvil and Alpha Tackett Oney.
She was married to her beloved husband, Earnest Davis, for 28 years. A loving and dedicated mother, she is survived by her children; Angela Ronnette Erwin of Olive Hill, KY, Melissa Gay Lanza (Anthony) of Mount Sterling, KY, and Johnie Nathan Erwin (Heather) of Jeffersonville, IN; two step-sons, Ronald Davis (Chris) of Ironton, OH, and Fred A. Erwin of Wichita, KS; two step-daughters, Angela Rena Davis of Lavalette, WV, and Tia Alicia Erwin (Jim Binion) of Olive Hill, KY; one sister, Mary Lois Oney McKenzie (Ramah); one sister-in-law, Shirley Oney; and one brother-in-law, Randall Webb. She was the proud grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought great joy and meaning to her life; her grandchildren, Chassity Erwin Seckman (David), Samuel Derek McCleese (Shalene), Marissa McCoy Bellot (Alex), Megan McCoy (Tucker), Montana McCoy Stone (Nate), Madison McCoy, Nicole Lanza (Mitch), Robert Lanza, Halee Erwin (Zach Glancy), Nathan Joel Erwin, Andrew Simon Erwin, Matthew Isaac Erwin, Rachel Henderson, Christopher Aaron Henderson, Kyle Henderson, Quade Erwin, Vance Lycans, Hayden Davis, Jackson Davis, and Carson Davis; her great-grandchildren, Jaycee Ariana Seckman, Brody McCoy Arvin, Lillian Teal Goff, Sylvie Jane Stone, Heidi Anne Stone, Landrie Claire Stone, Maddox Daniel Bellot, Cameron Alexander Bellot, James John Liles, and Lincoln Oliver Henderson.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her three sisters, Vivian Marie Oney Carter (Larry), Anna Ruth Oney Webb, and Gladys Carolyn Oney; and her four brothers, Farris Elwood Oney (Mildred), Charles Denver Oney, Everett Lee Oney (Gloria Jean), and infant Larry Dale Oney.
Wanda was a member of Olive Hill Wesleyan Church, where she served as a Sunday School and Children’s Ministry Teacher. She had a servant’s heart, and spent her life working toward receiving her reward of a crown of righteousness for her service in the kingdom of heaven. She treated everyone she met with kindness and always had a smile. She was a great encourager to the downhearted, a sender of care packages to anyone in need, and always thought the best of everyone. She was employed by the Commercial Bank of Grayson in the Loan Department for 25 years. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, traveling to the beach, Amish Country, taking drives along scenic routes, and to new places. She enjoyed antique shopping for hidden treasures, and had a love for quilt collecting. Each quilt in her collection told a story - much like her own life, stitched together with love, care, and enduring faith.
Her warm spirit, strong faith, and deep love for her family will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Private family services will be conducted at Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Olive Hill, KY, with Bro. Ramah McKenzie and Bro. Lowell Rice officiating. Private burial will follow at Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY.
