Thomas E. “Cotton” Harris

1936-2019

Thomas E. “Cotton” Harris, 82, of Olive Hill, KY, entered into rest, Monday afternoon, October 28, 2019 at Elliott Nursing and Rehabilitation in Sandy Hook.  He was born December 14, 1936, in Olive Hill, KY, to the late Nathan and Carrie Kiser Harris.

Thomas gained his first job at the age of 10, where he would walk to town to build a fire for the newspaper.  By trade, Cotton was an electrician and refrigeration technician for Virgil Spark’s for many years. He later worked for Gene Knipp’s Plumbing Supply in Olive Hill where he retired. He also proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Madge (Sable) Applegate, Juanita (James) Nimmos, and Pauline (Everett) Mason.

He is survived by his special lady; Betty Gilliam, two nieces; Regina (Jim) Laguzza and Linda Sue (Robert) Benbow, and two nephews; Rick (Debbie) Applegate and Larry (Judy) Applegate. He also leaves behind many cousins and friends, as well as his caregiver Lesia Cline.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Duvall and Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Bro. Rex Seagraves and Bro. Darryl Garvin officiating. Burial will follow in the McFerren Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 9:00 PM, Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the Duvall and Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY and 9:00AM until time of service on Friday, November 1, 2019.

Serving as Pallbearers: Louis Bray, Randy Sammons, Ronnie Kinney, Gary Callahan, Lowell Burton and Kent Cline.

Honorary Pallbearers: Denver Ison, Carl Smith, Charles Cline, Gene Knipp, Danny McCoy, Jimmy Oney, Mikey Jordan and Billy Knipp.
