Samuel Richard Bailey
1953 – 2023
Samuel Richard Bailey, age 70, of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Friday morning, September 8, 2023 at his residence. He was born July 12, 1953 in Grahn, KY to the late Willard and Ruby Mosier Bailey.
Sam was of the Baptist faith and he was a retired school teacher with the Carter County Board of Education. He enjoyed cars, guns, and antique clocks, which he also repaired.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jearlean Bledsoe, and Jewell Garvin; and four brothers, Marvin Bailey, Wayne Bailey, Estill Bailey, and Larry Bailey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kathryn King Bailey; two daughters, Denise Conn, and Sabrina Bailey; one son, Leslie Bailey; five sisters, Carolyn Bailey, Janice (Gene) Stevens, Gail (Arnold) Adkins, Della Knipp, and Joyce (Mark) Matthews; one brother, Don (Sarah) Bailey; three grandchildren, Travis Holbrook, Samuel Conn, and Jayla Bailey; and three great-grandchildren, Raylynn Conn, Mason Conn, and Christian Holbrook. In addition to these, Sam leaves behind a host of family and friends who will greatly miss him and cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Jon Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at the King Cemetery on Erwin Ridge.
Friends may visit 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Sunday, September 10, 2023 and 9:00 AM until the time of service on Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
His grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Larry King, Karl King, JD King, and Don Bailey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to everyone who has assisted in caregiving and support through these difficult weeks, including Louise Callihan, Ann Carroll, Jon Carroll, Sammy Garvin, & Della Knipp. Your kindness and efforts will not be forgotten.
