Sammy K. “Redeye” Conn, 78 of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Friday evening, July 28, 2023, at his residence. Sammy was born July 22, 1945, in Carter County, KY, a son of the late Ola Wilson and Alma Conn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Terry Kay Conn, one brother Jack Conn, one sister Shirley Bond and one sister-in-law Mary Conn.
He served in the Kentucky National Guard with the 201st Engineer Battalion in Olive Hill, KY for 12 years. He was a retired Owner Operator Truck Driver, having driven for many years and many miles. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and working on tractors and Semi-Trucks and especially Semi Trucks, most recently traveling to Tennessee to buy an “Ol Junker”. Affectionately Known by many far and near as “Redeye”, he will be remembered for his big smile and Joking nature.
He is survived by his Loving wife of 58 years Shirley Tackett Conn whom he married May 15, 1965; one son Ronnie Conn; one daughter and son-in-law Kim and Darrin Owens; one sister Goldie Wilson; Four grandchildren Andy Conn and his fiancé Sheena, Kristen Lawson and her Husband Kyle, Kyle Conn, Kenzie Owens, and her companion Zach Burchett; Three Great Grandchildren Ollie Conn, Avery Conn, and Kennedi Lawson. Sammy also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends that will cherish his memory.
Funeral Services will be Conducted 12 Noon on Friday August 4, 2023, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Olive Hill, KY with Bro. Joey Kadlec and Bro. Gary Sparks Officiating. Burial will follow in the Tick Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY.
Visitation will be 5-9 PM Thursday August 3, 2023, and 9 AM – 12 Noon Friday at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164
Serving as Pallbearers will be Ronnie Conn, Nathan Carpenter, Zach Burchett, Kyle Lawson, Jeremy Lowe, Brent Tackett, Shane Kiser, Chris Kiser, and Jason Conn
Honorary Pallbearers will be Darrin Owens, Brian Conn, Mark Clark, Kyle Conn, and Andy Conn.
