1951 – 2023

Phyllis Ann Stone gained her wings on June 20, 2023.  She passed peacefully at her home in Morehead, Kentucky after a short battle with cancer.  She was 72 years old.  Those who knew Phyllis were blessed to be touched by her existence and the imprint she left on so many hearts.  Although she will be greatly missed here on this earth, she is now with her loving husband and son, as well as brothers and sisters who preceded her in death.

Phyllis was one of thirteen children born to Robert and Gertie Marie Smith.  She was born on January 5, 1951. She soon met the love of her life, the late James Edward Stone, and married on July 10, 1967.  Phyllis and James had three children, Belinda Riley of Morehead, Kentucky, James Robert Stone (preceded her in death), and Darrell Stone of Morehead, Kentucky.

Phyllis was a wonderful mother and wife, who loved the Lord with all her might.  She worked in a nursing home, as a caretaker, and at restaurants to help provide for her family.  Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her husband, her children, and her brothers, and sisters, as well as other friends and family members.  Her love for her family was never-ending.  Though her health had been failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled, her joy for life and her great spirit kept her pushing through.  To say she will be missed by friends and family is a great understatement. 

Phyllis is survived by her son, Darrell Stone; daughter, Belinda Riley; grandchildren, Jenipher Riley, Stephanie Ledford, Robert Dale Stone, Garrett Edward Stone, Mason Stone, Brady Stone, Tyler Riley, and Jonathan Riley. In addition to these, she leaves behind many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers, and sisters whom will cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM (Noon), Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Rev. Oscar Riley officiating.  Burial will follow at the Olive Hill Memorial Park.

Friends may visit 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Saturday, June 24, 2023; and 9:00 AM until the time of service on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY.
