Pamela Goodan Obituary

Pamela JoAnn Goodan

1952 - 2022

Pamela JoAnn Brown Goodan, 69, of Mt. Sterling, KY, entered into rest Sunday morning, April 24, 2022.  She was born in Carter County, KY on September 14, 1952, to the late Lawrence Everett Brown and Lola Ione Valandingham Brown.

JoAnn was saved and baptized in 1983, and was a member of Gateway Church of God in Mt. Sterling, KY.  She loved to cook and was the ‘go to’ hostess for most of the family holiday gatherings. JoAnn was a phlebotomist at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington for many years, but also had an entrepreneurial spirit.  She owned two different gift stores; JoAnn’s of Hazard in Hazard, KY, and JoAnn’s Cards & Gifts in Mt. Sterling.  She also worked Mt. Sterling Court Days for many years, selling country ham biscuits and had the only Ale-8 booth in the state. JoAnn was such a huge part of her family’s lives in many ways; being an excellent seamstress she made her niece’s wedding veil and her daughter’s clothing while growing up. She will be remembered as a great conversationalist; and always having the best stories to tell

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Donnie Goodan; one sister, Neogia Sparks; five brothers, Howard Brown, Carmel Brown, Lawrence “Billy” Brown Jr., Chalmer Brown, and Girvan Brown; one great-grandson, Gavyn James Williams; and two sons-in-law.

JoAnn is survived by one daughter, Candy (George) Benson, of Mt. Sterling; one son, Andrew Littleton, of Mt. Sterling; one step-son, Donnie Goodan, of Mt. Sterling; two sisters, Neolia Allen, of Chesapeake, VA and Della Laverne (Robert) Suter, of Kettering, OH; three grandchildren, Jeramy (Hillary) Williams of Mt. Sterling, Lawrence (Cheyenne) Williams of Mt. Sterling, and Dominic Littleton of Gillette, WY; four step-grandchildren, Jessie (Lori) Goodan, Hannah (Zach) Carper, Haley Goodan, and JD Goodan , all of Mt. Sterling; and seven great-grandchildren, Nora, Taylin, Willow, Gunner, Karlee, Kellin, and Chance.  In addition to these, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who will greatly miss her.
