Nellie Margarett Smith

1946 – 2026

Nellie Margarett Smith, 80, entered into rest Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Community Hospice in Ashland, KY. She was born April 17, 1946, in Bruin, Ky to the late James H. and Nola Larue Isaac Blevins.

Nellie was a devoted woman of faith whose love for the Lord guided her life.  She was a faithful member of Calvary Temple Apostolic Church in Enterprise, KY. She found great joy in worship, singing, and serving others.

She treasured simple pleasures – sitting with her warm cup of coffee, sewing, cooking for those she loved and spending precious time with her grandchildren. Nellie also enjoyed watching old scary movies and her favorite television show, Highway to Heaven.

Nellie will be remembered for her loving spirit, her guiding faith, the sound of her precious voice singing, and the joy she brought to her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, Robert Clason Smith; one daughter, Nellie Jane Smith; one son, Robert Samuel Smith; two sisters, Loraine Goney and Nancy Blevins; and five brothers, Duel Blevins, William Edward Blevins, Charles Blevins, John Henry Blevins, and Franklin Blevins.

Nellie is survived by one daughter, Melissa Smith; one son, James H. Smith; one sister, Mary A. (Junior) Smith; one brother, James Paul (Linda) Blevins; nine grandchildren, Kayla Jane (Ryan Fielding) Stapleton, Mary Ann Smith, Brandon Smith, Thomas (Bre) Duncan, Marissa A. Stapleton, Brandie Salyers, Maggie Salyers, Celina Collins, and Alexander Smith; three great-grandchildren, Grayson Ison, Bebeanah Wages, and Ashten Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Bro. Daniel Long officiating.  Burial will follow at the Smith Cemetery, Smith’s Run, Olive Hill, KY.

Friends may visit 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, May 11, 2026 and 9:00 AM until the time of service, Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at the Duvall and Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.

James Smith, Ryan Fielding, Thomas Duncan, Trace Kitchen, and Brandon Smith will serve as pallbearers.
