Michael Glen "Mickey" Binion

Mickey Binion, 61, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital after a courageous battle with a rare illness, HLH.

To know Mickey was to love him.  He had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome, important, and loved.  His warm smile, quick wit, generous heart, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

For more than 40 years, Mickey shared his passion for hairstyling, but those closest to him knew he gave so much more than beautiful hair.  He offered friendship, laughter, encouragement, and a listening ear.  As the owner of Você Salon in Lexington for over 20 years, he created a place that felt like home, where strangers became friends.

Born and raised in Eastern Kentucky, Mickey’s journey took him from his grandmother’s beauty shop to salons in Ashland, Lexington, Los Angeles, and New York. Though his talent earned him opportunities to style celebrities, his greatest joy came from the everyday relationships he built and the lives he touched. He never forgot his roots and was proud to call Kentucky his home.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lena Joy Lowe Binion Kiser, whose loss he carried deeply.

Mickey is lovingly remembered by his sister, Sherry Binion; His brothers, Jeff Minor and Chad Binion; his niece, Morgan Goodan; his nephew, Jake Goodan; his great-nephew, Benjamin Goodan; his faithful rescue dog, Houston; and countless friends who became family.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing Mickey’s kindness, laughter, and beautiful spirit will live on in everyone who loved him.  Honoring his final wishes, he will be laid to rest, in a private service, beside his mother in Carter County, Kentucky.
