Mark Alec DeWitt, age 73, of Olive Hill, Kentucky passed away on Friday December 5, 2025 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky with his family by his side.
Mark was born on November 5, 1952 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Clarence DeWitt and Mattie (Church) Pickens.
Mark was of the Christian faith and was baptized on May 15, 1986 at Glory Center Church in Shelby, North Carolina. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, enlisting in 1970. He was a retired security officer of Vance International, working all over the United States for many years. Mark loved music and would spend hours listening to country and rock music while playing his guitar. Mark was also a bit of a mechanic who knew his way around under a hood of about any old car. He loved doing things around his house as well as spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his Father, Mark was preceded in death by his step mother Ruth DeWitt and brother in law David N. Zucker.
Mark is survived by his Mother, Mattie Pickens of Amelia Island, Florida. His two children Justin (Renee) DeWitt of Owingsville, Kentucky and Sara DeWitt of Batavia, Ohio. Ten grandchildren Mollie DeWitt, Gracie DeWitt, Maddison DeWitt, Bryson Chandler, Christian Hall, Avarie DeWitt, Aubrie Tumey, Noah Tumey, Hartley Tumey and Sophie Tumey. One brother Jerry DeWitt of Mansfield, Ohio and two sisters Kim (Chuck) Lynch of Fernandina Beach, Florida and Michelle Zucker of Mansfield, Ohio. He is also survived by the mother of his children Rita Blevins and good friend Michael Newsome of Olive Hill. He also leaves behind other family and friends who will mourn his loss.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 12, 2025 at Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Dr. Rob Parsons presiding. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Grayson, Kentucky.
Visitation will be conducted 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Christian Hall, Bryson Chandler, Michael Newsome, Chuck Lynch, Jeremy Gordley and Gage DeWitt will serve as pallbearers.
His grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
