Leroy Ison
1960-2024
Leroy Ison, 63, of Olive Hill, KY, entered in to rest Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born October 22, 1960, a son, to the late Edgar “Pete” Sherman Ison and Vesta Geraldine Burke Ison.
Leroy was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting for ginseng, junking, and spending time with his family. He was employed by International Paper Company, and spent many years working at the truck stop in Olive Hill. Leroy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Eileen Elliott, and two infant sisters; one brother, Eddie Ison, and his father-in-law, Clint McGlone.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Malinda “Lou” McGlone, two daughters, Peggy Jo Ison, and Gerri Leah Ison (Sam Steele); three sisters, Teresa (Miles) Ison Sexton, Georgia Ann Ison, and Mary (Brian) Kramer; three brothers, James (Brenda) Ison, Ike Ison, and Phillip (Teresa) Ison; one granddaughter, Persephone Lou Alden Ison; and his mother-in-law, Hazel McGlone. In addition to these, he leaves behind a host of other family and friends who will greatly miss him and cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Duvall and Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Jim Ison officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Military honors will precede the funeral service.
Friends may visit 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Duvall and Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY.
Bill McGlone, Larry Burke, Ted Brainard, Sam Steele, Joshua McGlone, Glen Parsons Jr., Tim McGlone, and Tommy McGlone will serve as pallbearers.
Peggy Jo Ison, Gerri Leah Ison, Jan McGlone, and Roger Lewis will serve as honorary pallbearers.
