Joann Haney Wolfe Baker, 88, of Olive Hill, entered into rest Thursday morning, April 17, 2025, at UK St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead, KY. She was born, October 13, 1936 in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter to the late Virgil “Bunk” Haney and Mary Ellen Burchett Haney.
Joann became a member and was baptized on March 21, 1999 at Old Oakland Church, then later became a member of Bethel Christian Church. She earned her master’s degree in early education from Morehead College, and spent 38 ½ years doing what she loved; teaching kids. Her hobbies included word search puzzles, cooking, needlework, and being the boss. She also enjoyed farming; but most importantly she loved her children and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 19 years in 1977, Chrissie Leon Wolfe; one step-son, Mark Wayne Baker; two sisters, Janet Marie Bloomfield and Teresa Gail Lewis; three brothers, Bill Haney, Jim Haney, and Danny Ray Haney; one step-grandson, Nathan Hayes; one son-in-law, Randall Lee Wells; and one step-daughter-in-law, Leann Baker.
Joann is survived by her husband of 26 years, Wayne Baker; three daughters, Diana (Howard) McVey, Cathy (Brent) Wilburn, and Christy (Mike) Burchett; one step-daughter, Joyce (Bobby) McKnight; one step-son, Doug Baker; three sisters, Ruth Ann Wolfe, Shirley Lewis, and Patty (Jim) Carper; one brother, Bob Haney; ten grandchildren, Randi Harper, Angela Phelps, Shannon Howard, Sara Wilburn, Ethan Wilburn, Aaron Burchett, Travis Butler, Jeremy Hayes, Amanda Johnson, and Whitney Baker; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. In addition to these she leaves behind a host of other family and friends that will greatly miss her and treasure her memory.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Bro. Haskell Dailey officiating. Burial will follow at the Baker Cemetery.
Friends may visit 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164; and 9:00 AM until the time of service, Saturday, April 26, 2025.
Ethan Wilburn, Travis Butler, Aaron Burchett, Eian Leadingham, Braden Leadingham, Gage Leadingham, Edge Howard, Rage Howard, and Ayden Harper will serve a pallbearers.
Anastasia Howard, Easton Adkins, Caden Wilburn, Nora Wilburn, Amara Butler, and Meliah Athena Howard will serve as honorary pallbearers.
