James Cecil “J.C.” Zornes, 59, entered into rest Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his residence in Morehead, KY.  He was born July 9, 1966, in Sandy Hook, Ky to the late Sabel Zornes and Mona Sue Barker Cain.

J.C. married his loving wife, Anita, on October 13, 1995, and together they built their life. He was of the Christian faith and was saved at Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church.  He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, especially spending time fishing and hunting. In addition to spending time with his family, J.C. found joy in collecting guns; as well as dabbling in coin collecting. He will be remembered for the many memories shared with those who loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather Harold Cain.

J.C. is survived by his wife of 30 years, Anita Holbrook Zornes; and four sisters, Kathy Zornes (Theo) Vaughn of Louisa, Tina Cain (Tommy) Lucas of Olive Hill, Regina (Jason) Burton of Grayson, and Nissa (Chris) Hill of Danville.  In addition to these, he leaves behind a host of other family and friends that will greatly miss him and cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Bro. Elijah Sexton and Bro. Robert Kidd officiating.  Burial will follow at the Barker Cemetery, Grahn Hill, Olive Hill, KY.

Friends may visit 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and 9:00 AM until the time of service, Thursday, May 12, 2026, at the Duvall and Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.

Tony Lucas, T.J. Lucas, Nickolas Vaughn, Jacob Vaughn, Rockie Richmond, Jerry Barker, and Tracey Holbrook will serve as pallbearers.

Adam Ray Holbrook and Cleo Middleton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
