James "Jimmy" Allen Watson died peacefully in Delaware, OH on April 28, 2024, at the age of 92.
Jimmy is survived by his children, Sharon F. Cook, spouse Fred, James R. Watson, spouse Lisa, and Mark A. Watson, and spouse Valerie. Jimmy was blessed to have 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, with more on the way!
He is preceded in death by his spouse Faye T. (Dailey)Watson and their daughter Carol Ann (Watson) Copley. Parents: Charles L. and Sarah L. (Cline) Watson. Siblings: Ilene and Pete Kiser, Flatwoods, KY, Wilma and Charles Stamper, Grayson, KY, Charles L. Jr and Betty Watson, Dayton, OH and Billy and Irene Watson, Bellville, OH.
Jimmy was born on February 27, 1932, in Olive Hill, KY to Charles L. and Sarah L. (Cline)Watson. After moving to Columbus, OH, Jimmy began working for Lennox Industries as a line worker, then being promoted and later retiring as an inspection supervisor. His children remember him as a kind, gentle, and loving father who encouraged them to pursue their goals and to rely on the goodness and the grace of Jesus. Jimmy was devoted to reading his bible daily and listening to gospel music. He often indulged in watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds play, with his son-in-law Fred. He was an enthusiastic man who loved his family and who was passionate about the power of prayer. He was a dedicated Christian, and he often volunteered as a song leader at his church, during their morning worship services.
Jimmy had a host of friends and family members in the Columbus, OH and Grayson, KY area. He had lifelong friends, like Barbara Estepp, that enjoyed his humor and outgoing personality. Jimmy’s foundation and beliefs were born in the great hills of Kentucky and the Watson family would like to express their unwavering love to their extended family in the Grayson and Olive Hill community.
Funeral Services will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday May 5, 2024 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Pastor Travis McKenzie Officiating Burial Will Follow in the Burchett-Dailey Cemetery with Military Honors presented by American Legion Post 138.
Visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday May 5, 2024 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations for the maintenance and the grounds for the Burchett-Dailey Cemetery (Commercial Bank of Grayson, Olive Hill, KY) and or the Watson’s Cemetery grounds to James R. Watson 438 Benson Dr., Groveport, OH 43125. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Willowbrook Christian Village and Heartland Hospice of Delaware, OH for their amazing care during his transition.
