1948 – 2021

James Edward Stone, 72, of Olive Hill, KY, entered into rest Tuesday morning, April 27, 2021 at his residence in Morehead, KY. He was born August 30, 1948 in Olive Hill, KY, to the late Robert and Shirley Marie Fitch Stone.

James was of the Pentecostal faith; he loved God and served as a preacher for many years.  He enjoyed fishing, going to the races and spending time with his family.  He was a hard-working dad and provider with a huge giving heart for anyone around him.  His car was always full; taking people to church, visiting or wherever they needed to go.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Estel Dean; one son, James Robert Stone; and one sister, Loraine Aberans.

James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Smith Stone; one daughter, Belinda Riley; one son, Darrell Stone; eight grandchildren, Jenipher Riley, Stephanie Riley, Tyler Riley, Jonathan Riley, Robert Dale Stone, Garrett Edward Stone, Mason Alexander Stone, and Brady Mathew Stone; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Manis, Kooper Wyatt Ledford, Bryan Riley, Grayson Adley Stone, and Lyra Stone. In addition to these, he also leaves behind many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY with Bro. Oscar Riley officiating.  Burial will follow at the Olive Hill Memorial Gardens in Olive Hill.

Friends may visit 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 and Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
