James Adison DuVal, 82, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, went to his heavenly home on March 21, 2023. He was born April 4, 1940 in Cazenovia, NY to the late Robert Harold DuVal and Mary Alice Frink.
Jim met his wife and former neighbor, Bonnie Heath in February, 1978. He also met his savior Jesus Christ that same month. Jim and Bonnie were married in July that same year. Jim lived his life for the Lord ever after that. He enjoyed teaching the bible, playing guitar at church and with friends, and also loved camping.
He was in the carpet business much of his life, first as a retail store owner, then as both wholesale and a mill rep.
At age 51, he went to college, graduating with a 3.9 average. He also took the courses to become an alcohol/drug counselor. He was ordained at Smokey Valley Church, Olive Hill, KY in 2001.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Vervate.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; five children, Jimilie DuVal, Michael DuVal, Tammy Forth, Lisa McKinley (Lance), and Takeshi Yahagi (Rebecca); ten grandchildren, Austin and Hanah Genther, Jonah Baxter, Tabitha DuVal, Peter and Benjamin Forth, Andrew, Katie Jo, and Gabriel McKinley, Kaylin Yahagi; and one great-grandson, Miles Zander DuVal. In addition to these, Jim also leaves behind many nieces, nephews; two sisters, Kathy Crane, and Sandra Yoder; and one brother, John.
Many thanks to all who were supportive of Jim through encouragement and prayers as he battled hydrocephalous and vascular dementia for thirteen years.
It is Jim’s request that there be no calling hours or funeral. Burial will be private at the Fly Creek Valley Cemetery in Fly Creek, NY.
