Helen Gifford Tharp, 76, of Rush, Kentucky, formerly of Ashland, entered into rest on Thursday, March 9th, 2023, at King’s Daughters Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Born to the late Cecil Edward and Marie Horn Gifford in Boyd Co., Kentucky, on March 28, 1946, Helen was the youngest of ten children. After graduating from Ashland High School, she went on to work for Tri-State Building Maintenance for thirty-four years.
Helen was a God-loving woman, and will be dearly missed by the congregations of Trace Wesleyan Church and Ashland Heights Wesleyan Church. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends, who will always remember her for the love she had for her family, and the strength she possessed in successful battles against Small Cell and Large Cell Lung Cancers.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William Tharp; one son, Brian Gunnoe; one brother, Charles Gifford; six sisters, Catherine Gifford, Betty Wilcox, Lorraine Gifford, Geneva Sexton, Mary Groover, and Wanda Gifford.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Deena (Dempsey) Miles of Rush, and Regina (Kevin) Griffith of Bellefonte; one sister, Levonia Lane of Somerset; one brother, Roy Gifford (Barb) of Cannonsburg; six grandchildren, Amanda Mills, Gina Planovsky, Brian Gunnoe Jr., Brooke Gunnoe, Tessa Leibee, and Ian Griffith; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 PM, Monday, March 12, 2023 at Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
Friends may visit 4:00 PM until the time of service, Monday, March 13, 2023 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY.
