Mr. Harold “Tweedy” Gee, age 85, of Olive Hill, Kentucky passed from this life into Heaven on Tuesday morning, May 12, 2015, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.
Mr. Gee was born on February 10, 1930, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, a son of the late Kim and Virgie Whitt Gee.
After a long career at the Olive Hill Brickyard, Harold retired to his home on Tick Ridge, where he spent the remainder of his life, a fact that Harold took particular pride in. Harold, known by the childhood nickname “Tweety” by most, enjoyed working with his many horses and mules, as well as sitting in the yard watching his wife, Virginia, fish in their pond. A storyteller by nature, Tweety was always laughing and regaling his children and grandchildren of his many adventures, and particularly liked telling tales of the countless shenanigans of his youth. His stories would sometimes stretch for hours, but never failed to have the attention of a delighted and captive audience.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Hurst, Virgil, and Edward Gee, one sister, Hazel Boggs, and a son, John Edward Gee.
Harold is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Virginia Doris Burns Gee; and eleven children: Bonnie Kelly; Harold Brent Gee and his wife, Karen; David Gee; Beverly Shell; James Gee and his wife, Betty Sue; Betty Adams; Susan Callihan and her husband, Charles; Kendall Gee; Jeanie Gee; Connie Woosley and her husband, Robert Jeff; and Kimberly Shrout and her husband, Ron. He is also survived by his twin brother, Darrell Gee of Melbourne, Florida. Harold has seventeen grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will sorely miss him.
Burial and a graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 14, 2015 in the Tick Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, officiated by Stephen Gee.
Harold’s grandsons, Stephen Gee, Kristopher Kelly, Joshua Leadingham, Andrew Robertson, Dustin Gee, and Jess Moses will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangments are under the Direction of the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY.
