Floyd Bear
1934-2024
Floyd Bear, age 90, of Olive Hill, KY entered in to rest Saturday afternoon, September 28, 2024, at his home. He was born April 7, 1934, in Carter County, KY a son of the late James Hardin Bear and Emily Ethel Boggs Bear.
Floyd, affectionately known as "Pretty Boy Floyd", was of the Baptist Faith and worked for Alliance Brickyard, Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn MI, as well as A.O. Smith in Mt. Sterling. He enjoyed spending his days farming, making sorghum, and working with his horses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Charlena Holbrook Bear; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Pauline and George Rice, Lucille Bear, Annie Catherine and Luster Holbrook, Margie and Clabe Holbrook, and Esther Bear; and one brother, Ray Bear.
Floyd is survived by five daughters; Rachel Bear, Eunice Bear, Garnet Bear, Janice Bear, and Joyce Bear; one son, Harlan Bear; one sister, Nemo Bear; one sister-in-law, Diana Bear; one brother, Ervin Bear; two grandchildren, Leevon Bear, and Harley (Daniel) Cook; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Haisley Cook. In addition, he leaves behind many friends and family who will greatly miss him.
Funeral Services will be conducted 12 noon, Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Olive Hill, KY, officiated by Old Regular Baptist Ministers. Burial will follow in the Clabe Holbrook Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Pallbearers will be Leevon Bear, David Roar, Elmo Holbrook, Daniel Cook, Bill Roar, and Shannon Holbrook. Brian Waggoner will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
