Ervin Bear

Ervin Bear, age 83, of Olive Hill, KY, entered into rest Saturday evening, June 13, 2026, while working on the family farm. He was born July 21, 1942, in Carter County, KY, a son of the late James Hardin Bear and Emily Ethel Boggs Bear.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Esther Bear, Pauline Rice and her husband George Clifton, Lucille Bear, Annie Catherine Holbrook and her husband Luster, Margie Holbrook and her husband Clabe; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Floyd Bear and his wife Charlena, and Ray Bear.

Ervin was a member of the Kirk Memorial Baptist Church in Grahn, KY for many years. He worked several different places during his life, but he was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on the farm, trading and swapping, collecting knives, working and breaking horses to ride and work, tinkering with saddles and harnesses, and exploring with his loyal dogs. He especially enjoyed spending time on the family farm with his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by one sister, Nemo Bear; and one sister-in-law, Diana Bear. In addition to these, he is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that will cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, in Olive Hill, KY with Bro. Eddie Barker and Bro. Roger Cline Officiating. Burial will follow in the Barker Cemetery in Grahn, KY.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, June 15, 2026, and after 9:00 AM, Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
