Enoch Ray Hicks, age 85 of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Tuesday afternoon May 28, 2024, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, KY. He was born April 3, 1939, in Olive Hill, KY, a son of the late Willard and Rebecca Tackett Hicks.
Enoch was of the Christian faith and a graduate from Erie School in 1957 being voted “Most Courteous” his Jr and Sr year. He worked driving a coal truck, and at the Olive Hill brickyard before founding T&H Janitorial Services, and worked 30 years as a Rural Mail Carrier for the Olive Hill United States Postal Service . He was a 56 Year member of Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629 and El-Hasa Shrine Temple in Ashland, KY. Enoch was active for many years with Meals on Wheels, and loved his community and the people in it, he served his community by acting on the city council. He loved farming, rabbit hunting with his beagle hounds, and most of all, he loved spending time with his family, and visiting and talking with people wherever he was. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Betty Rose and one brother Marvin Hicks: two sister-in-laws Brenda Ferris , Margie Hicks and six brother-in-laws, Ronnie Gilbert, Johnny Rose, Bill Davis, Albert Callihan, Gary Wilson, and Rudee Jessee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Veda Rae Jessee Hicks; two daughters and one son-in-law, Denise and Phillip Carter, Jama Burton; three sisters, Joy Davis, Venice Gilbert, Charlene Callihan; one brother-in-law Phillip Ferris; two sister-in-laws, Linda Lou Wilson and Beverly Jessee; grandchildren, Kenzie and James Pendergrass, Jessi Carter, Franki Jo Carter, Evan and Rachel Burton, Katie Burton; great-grandchild, Daniel Stephens and two great grandchildren on the way. In addition to these he is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends that will cherish his memory.
Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday May 31, 2024, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Olive Hill, KY with Bro. Gary Sparks Officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 9:00 PM Thursday May 30, 2024, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY41164.
Masonic Rites will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday by the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629.
