Emma Jean Salyers Roark

Emma Jean Salyers Roark, age 97 of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Friday afternoon July 25, 2025, at Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson, KY. She was born on December 13, 1927, in Pleasant Valley, KY, a daughter of the late Oscar and Wanda Kiser Salyers.

Emma Jean was Christian and attended Three Pine Freewill Baptist Church. A devoted and loving mother, she loved to cook and to work crossword puzzles. She always made anyone she encountered feel like they were family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death the father of her children and companion of 52 years Charles Hubert Roark; one infant son Hubert Roark Jr.; two sons Fred and Orvil Roark; one grandson, Brad King; one great-granddaughter, Sonnie Knipp Wyatt; six sisters Lillian King, Nadine Stegall, Betty Sisk, Millie Rayburn, Mae Tackett and Phyllis Bryant; four brothers, Troy Salyers, Billy Ray Salyers, Kenneth Salyers and Roger Salyers; one son-in-law, Jake Rose.

Emma Jean is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Steve and Ruth King, Billy Don Roark, Joe and Penny Roark, and Jerry Roark; 3 daughters and one son-in-law, Lilly Roark, Angela and Bill Yeager and Janet Rose; one granddaughter who she raised like a daughter Keisha Taylor; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 on Monday July 28, 2025, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Olive Hill, KY with Bro. Gary Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery with friends and family serving as Pallbearers and her children serving as Honorary Pallbearers.

Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 PM Sunday July 27, 2025, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164
