Donavan Kyle Porter
1996 - 2026
Donavan Kyle Porter, age 30, of Grahn, KY, passed away on March 20th, 2026.
He was born January 12, 1996 in Lexington, KY; a son of Rita Ann Falkner and the late Terrance Edgar Porter. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his second mother, Pamela Molton; a special cousin, James “Ryan” Fitchpatrick; a special aunt, Pam Carroll; his paternal grandfather, Rex Porter; his maternal grandparents, Harry and Shelby Falkner; and his faithful canine best friend, Blackjack.
Kyle was a jack of all trades, there wasn’t a job he couldn’t do. From fixing cars to building houses, he was the man for the job. One of his greatest accomplishments was becoming a master electrician and starting his own business, “Porter Communications” with his brother, Dustin. They were known as the “dynamic duo” in the telecommunications industry. Working side by side with his brother was his dream come true, and he took great pride in their work and extraordinary bond.
Outside of work, he was always busy with something– rebuilding his truck, starting a new project, or just hanging out in the garage. He was an adrenaline junkie at heart, with a love for speed, adventure, and the thrill of the ride. The song “One Piece at a Time” by Johnny Cash describes Kyle and his interests best. He loved anything with wheels and a motor, and when he got a good deal on both of those things, you’d find him grinning ear to ear, no matter what it looked like. So much so that from the time his daughter could talk, she referred to the path to his garage as “daddy’s junk yard.”
Kyle was a lover of good food and a good time. If it was up to him, he would have had a ham dinner with german chocolate cake and a glass of milk every night; he was proud of his wife’s cooking, and made it known to everyone he knew. When he worked on the road, you’d find him with a cooler packed down with his favorite homemade meals. Kyle was a prankster and that made him the fan favorite with the kids; he loved messing with them and helping them play tricks on everyone. When he successfully pulled a good prank on you, you could hear his unique laugh a mile away.
His greatest joy in life was being with his family. Kyle and Becca began their relationship at a young age, growing up side by side and building a life together through years of hard work, commitment, and unwavering love. They cared deeply for one another, supporting each other through every challenge and celebrating every success as a team. Together, they devoted themselves to creating as many meaningful memories as possible with their daughter, Olivia. Whether it was the simple moments—cuddling in bed each night or singing along to their favorite songs—or the bigger adventures like dressing up for Halloween or building sandcastles at the beach, they did everything together with smiles. The love they shared as a family was truly something special, and it was evident to everyone who knew them.
Above all else, his biggest honor in life was being a father. Kyle loved his daughter with a depth words can hardly capture. She was his princess, his “little Kyle”, the very best part of who he was. Anyone who saw them together could feel the bond they shared- unshakable, pure, and full of pride. Just the sight of her would light up his face, his eyes shining with a joy that spoke louder than anything he could say. In her, he saw his greatest purpose and his truest happiness, and his love for her will live on in every memory, every smile, and every piece of her that reflects him. Olivia will always know how deeply she was loved by her “big daddy.”
Kyle is survived by his daughter, Olivia Kyle, and his wife, Rebecca Porter; his mother, Rita Falkner (Mark Justice); his brother, Dustin Porter; his sister, Dezarae Porter; two sisters-in-law that he loved like his own, Tori Lowe and Veronica (Thomas) Flannery, his nephew, Liam Kole; his nieces, Nora Gray and Willa Kate; two special uncles, James “Lurch” Carroll and Travis Falkner; one special aunt, Carla Phillips; two life-long best friends, Rodney Easterling and Logan Royce; Mark Warren, who was a strong constant in his life; and a host of family and friends who will miss him deeply.
