Dallas Ray Nolen, age 83, of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Tuesday morning March 18, 2025, at his residence. He was born September 25, 1941, in Carter County, KY a son of the late Clifford and Jewell Clay Nolen.
Dallas was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Infantry in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a retired steelworker, having worked 39 years with most of that time spent at Kentucky Electric Steel in Ashland, KY.
Dallas was an avid Lady Comets Basketball Fan, a Louisville Cardinal Basketball Fan, a Cincinnati Red’s Baseball fan and NASCAR fan, especially during the Dale Earnhardt Era. He was a member of the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629 and a proud member of the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138 for over 40 years. He loved spending time with his friends and family but especially loved being Poppy to his Granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl “Cheri” Nolen Duvall and one brother-in-law Richard Cox.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Stella King Nolen; one son J.R. Nolen of Olive Hill, KY; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Joyce Cox of Union, OH and Gloria and Larry Dale Taylor of Grahn, KY; three granddaughters Becca Boggs and her husband Cale, Josie Nolen and Kenlie Nolen; Henri Antrobus whom he considered to be a granddaughter; former daughter-in-law, Wanda Antrobus; and a special friends Trish Russell, Cheri James and Jenny Lowe Bailey; Special Caregiver Jennifer Thompson Boggs. In addition to these he is survived by a host of relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
Funeral Services will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home in Olive Hill, KY with Bro. Gary Sparks Officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Olive Hill American Legion Post 138.
Visitation will be 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM Sunday March 23, 2025, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY.
Serving as Pallbearers will be, Trish Russell, Steve Phillips, Paul Phillips, Billy Duncan, B.J. Bond, Mark Oakley, Tex Andy English, Chet Deaton and Jamie Swoboda
Honorary Pallbearers will be Barry Phillips, Larry Dale Taylor, Earsel Lee King and Tex English.
