Charles Edward Hanshaw, age 78, of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Monday evening, February 24, 2025, at his residence. He was born April 29, 1946, in Carter County, KY, a son to the late Ralph and Gladys Fife Hanshaw.

Charles was of the Christian faith and attended church at Pleasant Valley Gospel Tabernacle.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and would spend hours watching the horses, especially “Legs”, his favorite.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Hanshaw; and one infant great-granddaughter, Isabella Paige Clary.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Freda Gilliam Hanshaw; one daughter, Kimberly (Jonathan) Cundiff; one son, Edward (Julie) Hanshaw; two sisters, Janice (Kenneth) Day, and Linda (Ronnie) Bond; one brother, Phillip (Patricia) Hanshaw; four grandchildren, B.J. Cundiff, Chase (Jazmine) Hanshaw, Madison (Edward) Clary, and Dalton Cundiff; three great-grandchildren, Bryson Cundiff, Casen Hanshaw, Cleo Elleana Hanshaw; and baby “James” Clary on the way.  In addition to these, he also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other friends and family that will greatly miss him and cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Bro. Joshua Wright officiating.

Friends may visit 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Thursday, February 27, 2025, and Friday, February 28, 2025, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.

Edward Hanshaw, Jonathan Cundiff, Chase Hanshaw, Dalton Cundiff, Edward Clary, and Mark Hanshaw will serve as pallbearers.

Phillip Hanshaw, Jay Barker, Ted Estes, Lynn Whisman, and Casen Hanshaw will serve as honorary pallbearers.
