Charles M. Barker
1946-2025
Charles M. Barker, 78, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 2, 2025, at his home with his loving family by his side. Charles was born on September 9, 1946, to the late Clifford and Jane Burton Barker of Barker Flats.
Charles was of the Christian faith and loved attending church at James Chapel. This is where he gave his heart and soul to Jesus. He was a retired employee of the Michigan school system. Charles loved being outside, gardening and sharing gardening advice. He was also considered an herbalist, by knowing and being able to identify most of Kentucky’s native plants, as well as knowing what medicinal uses they have.
He also loved cooking. Any given weekend you could find him and his family at a tribal pow wow feeding thousands of people. He loved to spend time with family, whether Kentucky or Michigan family, he was always ready to socialize.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Bush Barker; one son, Willie Barker; two grandchildren, who he loved very much; one brother, Grover Allen Barker; and one infant brother, Phillip Barker.
Charles is survived by his very loved companion, Gail Howard; one son, Franklin (Christine) Barker of Michigan; and his beloved grandchildren, also of Michigan; two brothers, Keith Barker, and Harlen (Shirlene) Barker; three sisters, Delpha Barker, Wanda (James) Bryant, and Phyllis (Gary) Easterling, all from Olive Hill. He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, January 17, 2025 at James Chapel Community Holiness Church, 2491 State Highway 1025, Olive Hill, KY.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street Olive Hill, KY 41164
