Carl A. Fannin, Age 82 of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Tuesday evening July 29, 2025, at UK-St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead, KY surrounded by his family. He was born on September 7, 1942, on Smokey Creek near Olive Hill, KY, a son of the late Carlos and Tina Opal Humphries Fannin.
Carl was of the Baptist faith, he loved life and being outdoors whether it was hunting, gardening, farming, or being on his tractor it didn’t matter. Carl loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, he was an outstanding friend and neighbor to all who encountered him. He had calming presence with kids, older people and animals. Carl retired as a Truck Driver after 30 years of Service with J.D. Kiser Oil Company in Ashland, KY he also was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 181 in Ashland, KY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter Evelyn VanHoose; one grandson Jason Stephen VanHoose II; two sisters, Evelyn Fultz James and Geneva McGlone; two brothers, Eugene Fannin and Joseph Dale Fannin; one sister-in-law Karen Kaye Bond Fannin, three brothers-in-law, Carsol McGlone Phil James and Charles Fultz.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Rose Mary Baker Fannin; two daughters, Opal A. Fannin and Laura M. Plank; four grandchildren, Justin and Kali VanHoose, Andrea VanHoose and her fiancé Matt, Krista Plank and her companion Shawn, and Dalton Plank; two great-grandchildren Dominic Kain and Kalin VanHoose and one on the way, baby VanHoose. In addition to these Carl leaves a host of Nieces, Nephews, Relatives and Friends that will Cheris his memory.
