Phillip Wayne Burton, 74, of Olive Hill, KY, entered into rest Saturday evening, September 14, 2019 at St. Claire Healthcare in Morehead, KY. He was born January 21, 1945 at Stovall Hospital in Grayson, KY, a son of the late Edwin “Chig” Burton and Emojean Erwin Burton.
Phillip was a co-owner and cook at Burton’s Drive-Inn in Olive Hill, KY for 38 years. He has been a Christian for 22 years, having given his heart to the Lord on June 1, 1997, and attended Pleasant Valley Gospel Tabernacle.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandkids, and great-grandkids, riding four wheelers, fishing, playing rook, sitting on his front porch watching the hummingbirds, going to church, watching NASCAR, watching the old western’s and singing. His bright smile, deep laugh, and signature whistling greeted all that visited the Drive-Inn, and will be fondly remembered by everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dora Edith Duvall; one brother, Billie Ivan Burton; four brothers-in-law, Sam Duvall, Bill Turner, Floyd Lambert and Leroy Lambert; one sister-in-law, Emma Jane Huffman; three aunts and four uncles, Jay Messer, Phyllis Gail and Floyd Richardson, Homer and Maxine Erwin, Edward and Evelyn Erwin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 Years, Linda Lambert Burton, whom he wed September 26, 1964; two daughters, Edwina Burton and her fiancée Brian Henderson, and Karen Jenkins and her husband Gary; two sons, Brian Burton, and Randy Burton and his wife Shelia, all of Olive Hill, KY; eight grandchildren, Zachary and Jeremy Burton, Justin Jaynes and his wife Chelsa, Ashley Shavers and her Husband Chris, Evan and Katie Burton, Garrett and Karianne Jenkins; two great grandchildren Roman and Cruz and his little buddy Cam; one brother Lowell Gene Burton and his wife Wanda of Olive Hill, KY; one aunt Louella Messer of Olive Hill, KY; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Burton and Margie Turner; and one brother-in-law Vernon Lee Lambert and his wife Dawn. In addition to these, he is survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that will cherish his memory.
Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday September 19, 2019 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Olive Hill, KY with Bro. Allen Wells and Bro. Jimmy Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Burton Family Cemetery in Olive Hill, KY
Friends may call 6:00 – 9:00 PM Tuesday September 17, 2019, anytime Wednesday September 18, 2019 and until the Service Hour on Thursday at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street in Olive Hill, KY.
Serving as Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
