Golda Marie McDaniel Coleman
1925-2018
Golda Marie McDaniel Coleman, 93, of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Thursday, September 6, 2018 at her residence. She was born at home in Carter County, April 11, 1925, a daughter of the late Drew Thomas and Annie Mae Burchett McDaniel. She and her eleven siblings were raised on the family farm on Smokey Valley.
Mrs. Coleman was of the Baptist Faith and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Olive Hill, KY in 1954. She was a long time proprietor of Coleman’s Grocery Store at Smokey Valley. Golda enjoyed cooking and being surrounded by family, she made certain there was always plenty to eat. Everyone had their favorite dishes and desserts and she was always happy to oblige any request.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, whom she married in 1944, Harold Dwayne Coleman; five brothers, Walter McDaniel, James McDaniel, Ben McDaniel, Bill McDaniel and Edd McDaniel; two sisters, Mary “Dolly” Branham and Myrtle Thomas; one son-in-law, Carl “Marty” Henderson; one grandson -in-law Brian L. Emerson and one great-granddaughter, Sonnie Meagan Knipp.
Golda is survived by one son, Robert L. Coleman (Jane) of Olive Hill; two daughters, Frances L. Henderson and Shirley D. Webb (Shane), both of Olive Hill; three sisters, Retha Gay of Olive Hill, Bessie Legg of Mansfield, OH and Martha McGlone of Olive Hill; one brother, J.D. McDaniel of Vanceburg, KY; nine grandchildren, Kevin Coleman (Cathy) of Sevierville, TN, Kelly Sciacca (Michael) of Northborough, MA, Billie Dawn Roark, Lynn M. Henderson, both of Olive Hill, Karen Shiner (Steve) of Holden, MA, Carla H. Emerson of Burlington, NC, Christopher Coleman of Newport Beach, CA, Veronica Daughtery of Marion, OH and Cheyenne Webb of Columbus, OH; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00pm on Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Dean and Bro. Paul Webb officiating. Burial will follow at the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill, KY.
