Charles Denver Oney, Sr., 78, of Olive Hill, KY, entered into rest at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, KY on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.  He was born on Trough Camp in Olive Hill, October 14, 1940, a son of the late Jesse Arvil and Alpha Tackett Oney.

Mr. Oney was a truck driver owner/operator and retired from Walt’s Mobile Home Transit. Denver was raised in the Pilgrim Holiness faith.  He loved horseback riding, farming, and spending time with his grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids.

In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vivian Marie Carter, Anna Ruth Webb and Carolyn Oney; three brothers, Farris Elwood Oney, Everett Lee Oney and Larry Dale Oney; one grandson, Charles Christopher Lee Oney; two sisters-in-law, Jean Oney and Mildred Oney.

Denver is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Mae Spenlau Oney; five sons, Charles Denver “Chuck” Oney Jr. (Deadrea), Jesse Allan Oney (Stevie), Michael Wayne Oney (Dana), Brian Keith Oney (Cheryl) and David Gregory Oney (Marla); two sisters, Mary Lois McKenzie (Ramah) and Wanda Louise Davis (Ernest); one brother-in-law, Randall Webb; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his best friends, Gene Knipp and Jr. Hignite and one special loving friend, Loma Maddox Oney Callihan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm, Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home with Bro. Lowell Rice and Bro. Ramah McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill.

Friends may call after 6:00pm, Thursday, April 25, 2019 and 9:00am until the time of service, Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, located at 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY.
