Bobby Gene “Bob” Rodgers, 83, of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest, Friday evening April 26, 2019 at his residence. He was born December 17, 1935 at home in Grahn, KY a son of the late John Rodgers and Amanda “Mandy” Barker Rodgers James. Bob served his country first in the Army National Guard and later in the United States Navy aboard the mine sweeper U.S.S. Reaper 467. After being discharged from the Navy he went to work for as a Core Driller for the Army Corps of Engineers where he retired after 30 years of service.

Bob was a Proud Master Mason and a 50 year member of Olive Hill Masonic Lodge # 629, where he mentored many new members and was eager to help teach the rituals of the lodge.  He was of the Baptist Faith, and enjoyed spending his free time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, gardening, wood working, telling stories, and chewing tobacco.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, June Osenton and four brothers, Franklin Rodgers, Henry Lee Rodgers, Bill Rodgers and Jack Rodgers.

He is survived by his wife Johanna Spencer Rodgers; two daughters Bonita Kennedy of Hopkinsville, KY and Angela Kelley (Scott Clark ) of Olive Hill, KY; one son Phillip W. Rodgers ( Janet) of Garrison, KY; two sisters Pauline Pratt (Bill) and Barbara Hicks (Gary); one brother Ted Rodgers; seven grandchildren, David Kennedy, Jennifer Peck (Doug), Eric Kennedy (Tori); Nicholas Rodgers, Jeanette Fannin, Thomas Rodgers, Matthew Kelley and Allison Kelley; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that sadly mourn his passing.

Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday May 1, 2019 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Burial will follow in the Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Grayson, KY with Full Military Honors.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Eric Kennedy, David Kennedy, Nicholas Rodgers, Thomas Rodgers, Dwight Rodgers and Arthur Rodgers.

Honorary Pallbearers are Scott Clark, Don Buckner, Rod Wells, and the Member of Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629.

Friends may visit from 6-9 PM Tuesday April 30, 2019 and after 9:00 AM Wednesday at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street Olive Hill, KY

Masonic Rites will be conducted 7:00 PM Tuesday April 30, 2019 by Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629.
