1996-2024
Jalen Christopher Nichols, 27, beloved boyfriend, son, grandson, and friend, entered into rest on February 11, 2024, in an accident in Carter County, KY.
Jalen was born October 22, 1996, in Ashland, KY. He was a proud graduate of East Carter High School, Class of 2015, and a member of the East Carter Baseball Team. Jalen was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #181 and had completed the degree of Entered Apprentice for the membership to the Soldier Masonic Lodge #708.
Jalen enjoyed spending time with his girlfriend and companion of nearly eight years, Skyler LeGrand, riding ATVs, and farming. He was an excellent craftsman woodworker, and expert gardener. He also enjoyed spending time on the farm with his dogs, Apollo and Paisley.
In addition to his girlfriend, Jalen is survived by his parents, Kelli Fultz, Tracey Joe Elliott, and Stacy Nichols, his grandparents, Charles "Tim" and Paulette Fultz; grandmother, Mary Doris Nichols; grandparents, Robert W. Miller and Janice Miller; three aunts, Tawana (Dewayne) Johnson, Marlene (Terry) Reynolds, and Sue James; and two uncles, Stanley (Donetta) Nichols, and Darryl Nichols.
Jalen was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, June “Gigi” Carroll Fultz; great-grandfather, Willis Carroll; grandfather, Thirl Nichols; uncle, Randall Nichols, and cousin, Tracy Roe.
Jalen will be sadly missed by a host of other family and friends; all who were blessed to share the light from his life.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Friday, February 16, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Olive Hill, with Bro. Bradley Cotton and Bro. Dewayne Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the W. A. Porter Family Cemetery.
Friends may visit 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164 and 10:00 AM until the time of service, Friday, February 16, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Olive Hill, 365 E Tom T Hall Blvd., Olive Hill, KY.
Justin Dixon, Kyle Cundiff, Chris Lowe, Jeremy Lowe, Jacob Fannin, Blake Tucker, and Marshall Goings will serve as pallbearers.
Brandon Tackett, Cliff Gilliam, Mark Duncan, Sam Lowe, Bill Arrowood, Stanley Nichols, Darryl Nichols, Dustin Gee, Shelby Nichols, Shannon Nichols, Randy Nichols, Chad Carroll, and Jason "Zeke" Robinson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
