Martha Gatewood Ross, age 88, of Lexington, KY, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family Saturday evening April 11, 2015 at Sayre Christian Village in Lexington, KY. She was born January 31, 1927 in Georgetown, KY a daughter of the late Horace and Katherine Anderson Gatewood.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her husband Douglas Ross, and one sister, Sarah Katherine "Cottie" Bray.

Martha was a graduate of Garth High School, Georgetown College, and the University of Kentucky; she was a retired Registered Dietitian, during her career she worked for Good Samaritan Hospital, Booker T. Washington Elementary, Mary Todd Elementary and Excepticon.

Martha was a Christian woman who was a caring loving person, always available for family and friends. She raised four children after her husband passed away in 1972 from heart disease. In raising her children, she made personal sacrifices and put her children's needs ahead of her own. She always had a special place in her heart for military veterans because her late husband was a veteran.

She was a member of NorthEast Christian Church, enjoyed square dancing, rooting for the UK Wildcats, bird watching, especially cardinals.

Mrs. Ross is survived by two daughters, Susan (Tony) Lee of Lancaster, KY; Sarah Ross of Lexington, KY; two sons, Ben Ross and David (Carey) Ross both of Lexington, KY: Four grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Duvall, Olive Hill, KY, Ashley (Greg) Dixon, Lexington, KY, Courtney DeMoss, Lexington, KY and Bryan Ross, Lexington, KY; three great grand-daughters, Macey Duvall, Emma Dixon, and Katherine Dixon; two nephews, Charles and Jim Bray, of New Jersey.

Funeral Services will be conducted 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at NorthEast Christian Church, 990 Star Shoot Parkway, Lexington, KY, with Pastor Monte Wilkinson officiating. Private Burial will follow in Georgetown Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:30 PM-7:00 PM Tuesday April 14, 2015 at NorthEast Christian Church.

Memorial Contributions may be made to, Sayre Christian Village, The Kentucky Chapter of the American Alzheimer's Association, or Hospice the Bluegrass.
