Larry H. Tackett, 74, of Olive Hill, Passed away Thursday Morning, February 5, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 27, 1940 in Olive Hill, a son of the late Andy Tackett and Olive Danner Tackett.
Larry was a loving Husband, Dad and Papaw, He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, and Riding Horses. He Coached Youth Ponytail Softball and Helped Coach West Carter Girls Softball for Several Years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and attended the Pleasant Valley Gospel Tabernacle in Olive Hill.
Larry served his Country and his community, first in the United State Army, then through a career in law enforcement spanning 31 years with the Olive Hill Police Department where he served as Chief for 6 Years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Tackett, and two sisters, Ruth Boggs and Joyce Waggoner.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kaye Sagraves Tacket whom he married August 21, 1963; two daughers, Kimberly (Mark) Napier and Beth (Philip) Roe; two sons Larry Michael (Kim) Tackett and Barry Scott ( Kaitlyn) Tackett; one sister, Louise (Corb) Binion; two brothers Orville (Olive)Tackett and Michael Wayne “Butch” Tackett; 9 Grandchildren; Tyler, Travis, Taylor, and Trey Napier, Brett & Trace Tackett, Paige and Laryn Roe, and Nataley Tackett; 3 great grandchildren, Markus Napier, Alissa Napier and Emily Napier.
In addition to these he leaves countless Friends, and relatives that sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday February 7, 2015 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home 149 Whitt Street Olive Hill, Kentucky with Bro. Terry Dean and Bro. Ed Jones Officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark Cemetery on State Route 174 in Olive Hill, with military honors conducted by the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Present and Former Member of the Olive Hill Police Department.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be, Danny Tackett, Jack Clark, John Kent Clark, John Paul Clay and Jimmie Binion.
