Homer E. “Bob” Bishop Jr., 68 of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday evening July 12, 2015 at the Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. Born February 26, 1947 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Homer E. Bishop Sr. and Dolly Rose McDowell Bishop.

In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by one Sister, Faye Sparks and one brother, Harold “Boddle” Bishop.

Bob proudly served his country in the 1st Infantry Division “The Big Red One” of the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. After his Army Service Bob Joined and Retired from the Army National Guard where he served with the 201st Engineers Battalion, The “Workhorse Battalion” in Olive Hill, KY. Apart from his Military service he worked many years for Tackett’s Furniture and was of the Christian Faith.

Survivors include four sisters, Carolyn (Lennis) Middleton, Mary Phyllis Howard, Loretta Newman, Paula Bishop and Wendy Stone; two brothers, John Bishop and Jerry Bishop. In addition to these Bob is survived by several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews and a host of relatives and friend that sadly mourn his passing.

Funeral Services will be conducted 12:00 PM Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street Olive Hill, KY with Bro. Gary Sparks Officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Northeast Cemetery with Military Honors Conducted by the Kentucky National Guard and the Olive Hill American Legion Post 138.

Friends may call 6:00-9:00 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2015 and after 8:00 AM on Thursday at the Funeral Home.
