Charlene Tackett Jones aged 89 of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Saturday September 24, 2016 at the Saint Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV.

Charlene was born March 3, 1927 in Solder, KY to the late George “ED” and Dealie Williams Tackett. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Jim Jones, one son, Edwin Martin Jones, and one sister Rosalee McFarland. Mrs. Jones was also proceeded in death by five brothers, Lonnie Tackett, Charles Tackett, Donnie Tackett, George Tackett, and Eugene Tackett and four infant siblings.

Charlene is survived by one daughter, Donna Jones of Rush, KY and one step-daughter Joan Buckler of Rush, KY, three sons, James (Edith) Jones of Grayson, KY, Wayne (Shelia) Jones of Olive Hill, KY, Billy and the late Rebecca Jones of Nicholasville, KY and one step-son Gary (Gaye) Jones of Olive Hill, KY.

Mrs. Jones is also survived by one sister, Ruth Jones of Richmond IN, one brother, Dan E. “Buck” Tackett of Olive Hill, KY, ten grand-children, nine great grand-children and a special spiritual son, Dewayne Parker along with a host of nieces nephews and other relatives and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.

Charlene was a seamstress by trade, working 44 years at the sewing factory in Olive Hill for many different companies with the majority of her employment being with Cowden Manufacturing.

Charlene was a Christian and a member of the Grahn Hill Freewill Baptist Church, she shared her faith and ministered to everyone she met. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends and thoroughly enjoyed her quilting. Charlene was also active and involved with the Grahn Community Center, spending many years and countless hours there helping in any way she could.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday September 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Grahn Hill Freewill Baptist Church with brothers Bobby Day, Gary Sparks, and Jimmy Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery. James Shannon Jones, Jacob Ray Jones, Richard Adam Jones, Travis Cundiff, Kyle Cundiff, and Charles “Buggy” Jordan will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearer will be Dewayne Parker.

Visitation will be Tuesday September 27, 2016 after 5:00PM at the Duvall and Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service 149 Whitt St. Olive Hill, KY.

Friends may also call after 9:00AM until time of the service at the Grahn Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

The family requests that instead of flowers a donation be made to the Grahn Community Center Grahn, KY 41142 in memory of Charlene Jones.
