Carmel Eugene Brown, 90, of Grahn, KY, entered into rest Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Morgan County ARH Hospital in West Liberty. He was born April 5, 1927 in Carter County, a son of the late Lawrence and Lola Brown.
Carmel was baptized 40 years ago at Griffey Crossing by Bro. Tom James, Church of Jesus Christ. He worked at the Louisville Fire Brick Plant in Grahn for 31 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War era. Mr. Brown, being an avid fisherman and hunter, taught half of Carter Co. to fish and hunt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Bishop Brown; one infant son, Carmel Eugene Brown, Jr.; one infant daughter, Ellen I. Brown; one sister, Neogia Brown-Sparks; three brothers, Chalmer Brown, Girvan Brown and Howard Brown; and one special fishing buddy, Kelly Glover.
Carmel is survived by four sons, Timmy Brown of Greenville, SC, Terry (Sherry) Brown of Olive Hill, Mickey Brown of West Liberty, and Steve (Mary Anne) Brown of Olive Hill; four daughters, Tenna (Jack) Sullivan of St. Albans, WV, Cindy Hignite, Jean (George) Boggs of Olive Hill and Lisa (Roger) Bryant of Glasgow, KY; three sisters, Joann (Donnie) Goodan of Mt. Sterling, Neolia Allan of VA and Della Laverne (Robert) Suter of OH; one brother Billy (Doris) of VA, twenty-one grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, with Bro. Chris Glover and Bro. Rick Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at the Bishop Cemetery in Grahn, KY.
